Evie's "Real" Name

I'd like to introduce Miss Genevieve Rose!

For anyone who reads regularly, this 14 month old probably looks pretty familiar.  You might also know her as "Evie."

Before M and I even started trying to conceive we had already discussed names that we liked.  I mentioned that I had always loved my great-grandmother's name, Genevieve.  M said that he always liked his great-grandmother's name, Rose.  The two names worked well together, and we decided that the "hand me down name" Genevieve Rose would be the name if we ever had a baby girl.

When I got pregnant, we hesitated with our name choices.  We had some pretty big disagreements over it all.  No matter what other names came up, we kept coming back to Genevieve Rose.  My biggest hesitation was a nickname for it.  My great-grandma went by Gen (pronounced "Jen"), and I didn't really care for that.  Our baby name book listed "Eve" and "Evie" as possible nicknames Genevieve, so that's how she got the name Evie!

Did you have a hard time deciding on your child's name?  Is he/she named after someone?

Let's Go Brewers!

M and I are Brewers fans from way back.  Before Evie was born, we went to 8 - 10 games a year.  This year, we went to 3 as a family, and M went to several more with his buddies.   The team had their best season in years, and they made it to the playoffs!!

M was lucky enough to get tickets to yesterday's playoff game, but I wasn't able to go with him because a friend from college got married.  He ditched me on our anniversary for a baseball game, and I didn't even mind.  Wow, I must be the coolest wife ever!

The Brewers won, and as I'm typing this, they are winning the second game of the series too.  Between that, the Badgers kicking some Cornhusker butt last night, and the Packers destroying the Broncos, it's a pretty good time to be a sports fan from Wisconsin!!

Six Years

Six years ago today, I married my best friend.

Our wedding day was a beautiful autumn day.  It was warm for this time of year, and it was very sunny.

We got married at a chapel in a historical park in Green Bay.  It was the first church built in Green Bay in the early 1800s.

In between the ceremony and the reception, we went to Lambeau Field with our wedding party.

Our first dance was "My Best Friend" by Tim McGraw(which is also the source of the name of my blog).

Everyone ate, drank, and danced the night away!

It was an amazing day,
but everything that has come after that has been the best part.

Button, Button, I've got a button!!

I figured out how to make a button...finally.  It's something I've been meaning to do for a while, but I sat down and figured it out a couple of nights ago.  I used this website, picassa (which I use for all of my pictures of Evie), and photobucket as the website recommended.  It was actually really easy!!  I am still not completely satisfied with it, but here it is:

and here is the code if you'd like to grab it:

I've very excited about it!!  The picture is from Evie's one year pics (which were more like 13 month pics), which I plan on posting about in the very near future.  Anyway, please let me know if there are any problems with the button or the code.  I'm still a newbie at the more complicated aspects of this blogging stuff.  :)

Wordless Wednesday - Fun with the Phone

We got rid of our land line a while ago, and since we have no need for the phone anymore, we took out the batteries and gave it to Evie as a toy.  She is fascinated by it!  She used to just play with the buttons, but she recently began having intense "conversations" on it.

Who should I call??

Talking to...ummm...grandma! (Not really sure who else she would call.)
Mom, it's for you!!
P.S.  And yes, that's a Halloween shirt that glows in the dark!  We love fall and Halloween at our house, so we're already celebrating!!
