Wordless Wednesday - Self-portraits (of Evie, not me)

Evie loves to play with the camera.  (Yes, I let her play with it.  Naughty mommy!)  She has figured out how to turn it on, and how to take a picture.  She's actually pretty good at it, except that she always wants to put her thumb in front of the lens.  :)

Enjoy some of Evie's self-portraits narrated by Evie!

What happens when I push this button??

Holy cow!!  That flash was bright!!

Better take one more, just to make sure I get a good one!

Wordless Wednesday - A year in review

I know that I'm probably a week late for this, but oh well, here it goes (in no particular order).

Brewer game in August

The holidays 2010 at my parent's house (with my sister)

Playing at the park in July

Playing in the backyard in June

Reading books in August

Crazy bathtub hair in September

Goofing around with pigtails in November
These are just a few of my favorites from the past year.  I can't wait to see how much she grows by 2013!

Wordless Wednesday - First Time Sledding

I know I just posted last week about the lack of snow in Wisconsin, but some did arrive in time to make it a white Christmas at my parent's house up north.  Actually, it made it just in time to make the roads a nightmare for the drive up there.  Luckily, we all made it in one piece!!

We woke up Christmas Eve morning to a winter wonderland.  My sister gave Evie a sled for Christmas.  She let her have it a little early so that we could try it out.  Evie loved it, obviously.  ;)

My parent's house (where this video is from) is on a hill that my sisters and I used to sled down all the time when we were kids.  We even used to play "Cool Runnings" and pretend we were the Jamaican bobsled team like in the movie with John Candy.  M, my sisters and their husbands, and my parents were all outside to watch Evie sled for the first time.  It brought back some great memories.  I can't wait for more Christmases like this one.

P.S.  Sorry the video is sideways.  I'm sure you get the idea! :)

Wordless Wednesday - Winter in Wisconsin

Well, it looks like it's going to be a brown Christmas here in southern Wisconsin.  Snow-less Decembers have been more common in recent years (according to the newspaper article I read today), and it always bums me out.  Of course, I'll be cursing the snow when it's still here in April...which it often is.

I digress...even with the lack of "normal" Wisconsin winter weather, Evie went outside to play for a while over the weekend.  The temperature was in the upper 20s, so we didn't last long, but she seemed happy just to get some fresh air.  I thought it was pretty nice too.  :)

Wordless Wednesday - Baby/Puppy Snuggles

I wrote last week that Evie has been sick.  I took her to the doctor Monday night, and he ruled out any infections.  He told me the usual, "It just has to runs its course" mumbo jumbo, which I totally believe is true, but doesn't help me when I'm up with a baby who keeps coughing herself awake from midnight to 3 AM.  (Sorry for the rant, I'm sure you've been there.)

Anyway, in our desperation to get *little* sleep last week, Evie spent some time in our bed.  I managed to sneak out and get ready while she was still asleep.  The dog jumped in to cuddle with her, and I thought it was adorable!

Keeka pretends she hates Evie, but the truth is in the picture!

Wordless Wednesday - A Great Daddy

I was looking back at pictures of when Evie was a newborn and I found these of her and M.  It made me choke up a little.  M is an absolutely amazing father, and I probably don't tell him that enough.

M and Evie's first picture together.  She was only a few hours old, and she was still in the NICU for her breathing issues.

Our first full night together in the hospital.  She cried most of the night.  When she finally went to sleep at 5 AM, M and I laid on the hospital bed and cried wondering what on earth we had gotten ourselves into.  We promptly called M's mom to come stay with us for a few days....lol!

My favorite pic.  Evie and Daddy taking a nap together.  Evie was probably about 10 days old.

P.S. I've been on Top Baby Blogs for a while now, and I swore I was never going to ask for votes, but if you are so inclined, a couple of clicks for my blog would make me extra-happy. :)

Wordless Wednesday - Preparing for Christmas

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas at our house.

Mom, can you help me write a letter to Santa?? ---Evie with the Toys R Us ad
Apparently, it's inherent that kids know where to find the toy ads and catalogs that come with the Sunday paper.  Evie had no problem finding this, walking around with it pretty much all afternoon, and paging through it when she felt like sitting down.  M and I thought it was hilarious.

I'll take one of everything!!
M loves Christmas.  He decorates the whole house, and doesn't even ask for my help!!  (If it was left up to me, our tree probably wouldn't go up until December 23-ish.  It's not that I don't like Christmas, I'm just lazy about decorating for the holidays.)  He even put up our outside lights in the rain on Saturday afternoon.  What a trooper!

Christmas tree, 2011 version
We were worried that we were only going to be able to decorate the top part of the tree that is out of Evie's reach.  :)  But she has been really good about not picking at it.

I can't believe that it's almost Christmas!?!?!!?!

Wordless Wednesday - Goofing Around

We didn't do much over the weekend.  Sunday, Evie and I went on a shopping excursion to escape M's football bonanza.  Other than that, we just spent the day goofing around.  I love relaxing weekends.  :)

Trying on snow pants.  We're supposed to get 1 - 2" today.
I love Wisconsin, really, I do.

I'm ready for my close-up!

Posing for the camera...as usual.

Mom, I can do it...let me have the camera!!
No, really.  Give me the camera.

Wordless Wednesday - Halloween

Monday wasn't Evie's first Halloween, but it was the first Halloween that she went trick-or-treating....sort of.  We walked around the neighborhood and stopped at the houses of the neighbors that we know better.  We went to 4 houses total.

Evie was so excited to see all of the other kids in their costumes.  She didn't want to walk with us, she just wanted to say hi to everyone.  It was so cute!   We had so much fun!

I had to add my favorite picture from her 1st Halloween.

Wordless Wednesday - My Other Baby

I don't usually give Keeka much air time around here, but she was my baby before Evie was my baby.  She is the bossiest dog I've ever met.  This is her house, and she's allowing us all to live here.

Because of her stubbornness/bossiness, I was worried how she would adjust after we had a baby, but she has done really well.  She can be jealous of Evie, but I also know that she loves her very much...and Evie is crazy about Keeka too!

Cheering on the Brewers
