Evie has been battling an ear infection for the past month. She is currently on her fourth antibiotic! Sleep has been a limited commodity in that time. For several weeks now, she has been up 3 or more times a night, and sometimes she won't go back to sleep at all. On top of that, her first tooth made an appearance last week, which didn't help with the sleep situation. M and I have been coping as best we can, sleep walking through work, trying to trade off duties, and not kill each other in the process.
Because she's been in so much pain, we've given her pain reliever whenever it was obvious that the pain was keeping her awake. In the middle of the night one night last week, we decided it was best to give her some. M measured it, gave it to her, and went back into the kitchen to put the medicine away. The next evening he said to me, " Did you do that?" I asked him what he was talking about. He had opened the microwave to warm up dinner and found the infant tylenol bottle in the microwave. Our medicine cabinet is above the microwave. Apparently he had missed the cabinet when putting the bottle away. We both had a good laugh.
The tooth has broken through, and this antibiotic seems to be working (for now), so hopefully we'll all be sleeping better soon!

Introducing...
The V family!
We are a family of three: Mama V (me), Daddy V (aka M), and adorable Baby V (aka Evie). We also have a dachshund mix named Keeka.
I have been thinking about jumping on the blogging bandwagon for quite a while, and decided it was finally time to take the leap.
Our backgroud (in a nutshell):
M and I, both raised in Wisconsin, have been together for almost ten years. We met in college through friends, and have been together ever since. We got married on October 1, 2005. I'm a middle/high school teacher, and M works in sales for a brewing distributor. We added Evie to the mix on July 24, 2010.
My blog name comes from a line in the song that M and I had as our first dance at our wedding. We are both shameless country music fans, and our first dance was "My Best Friend" by Tim McGraw. The line goes "Life with you makes perfect sense/You're my best friend."
I plan to blog about the trials and tribulations of every day life as a beginning family. I know that I'm one of many to do this, but our story is special because it's ours. I hope you enjoy reading it, as much I enjoy writing about it!
This pictures is a little outdated (from Thanksgiving). I'll get some new ones up soon! |
